Court to decide Kanimozhi's fate on Saturday

New Delhi: Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, named co conpsirator in the 2G spectrum scam, on Friday kept her date with the Patiala House Court in the capital.
Accompanied by her husband and co accused Kalaignar TVs MD Sharad Kumar, the DMK chief's daughter was flanked by close to a dozen Members of Parliament, in a show of support.
Ram Jethmalani, arguably the best criminal lawyer in the country and a fellow MP, is leading Kanimozhis legal battle.
Jethmalani claimed that A Raja was the one who was responsible for the scam and said that there's no proof to link Kanimozhi to money transfers.
At the courtroom of Judge OP Saini, which was packed beyind capacity, Jethmalani, arguing hor his client, said, "Is it a misfortune that I am Karunanidhi's daughter?"
"All other accused were signatories to the agreements and transactions, not a single piece of paper was signed by me," Jethmalani said further.
But Justice OP Saini in his order said, "Status quo continues".
Meanwhile, Kanimozhi, who was named in the supplementary chargesheet by the CBI for allegedly receiving kickbacks from 2G tainted companies, on Friday moved a bail application.
"Kani's lawyer will defend Kani and Rajas lawyer will defend Raja...the fact that so many MPs turned up shows there is solidarity," said DMK leader TKS Elangovan.
At the end of a day long legal drama, Kanimozhi heads back to Tamil Nadu Bhavan, with her fate uncertain. The CBI is expected to counter arguments made in her favour distingushing her from the other accused. On Saturday the court perhaps will rule if Kanimozhi goes back to TN Bhavan or joins the other accused in Tihar Jail.
