From being a musician to becoming a film producer and having to deal with the nitty-gritties of the film-making process has been a rather natural transition for Mukul Deora. Because, as he puts it, he likes to view everything as being a part of the creative process. The Vinay Pathak-starrer Bheja Fry 2 is his first baby under his production banner, and he says it is one of the best films that could feature on his resume as a Bollywood producer.
Deora, whose younger brother Milind is a politician from South Mumbai, is happy that he has been associated with a film that is quite palatable to his filmy taste buds. He says, "I am enjoying it thoroughly. Only in the last five years, there has been a profound change in the movie-going audience and the kind of film that are being made." There is a definite frown over his eyebrows as he points out, "I can't see movies that I don't like. After all, making films is an art, like music. It is a creative process and each medium has its special characteristics."
Mukul admits that as the producer, he has been involved in all the aspects of the film-making process of Bheja Fry 2 - including suggesting names of the playback singers as well as casting the actors. He says, "I met Sagar (Ballary, director of Bheja Fry 2) and spoke of different ideas. I got involved at the scripting level of the film, and then saw it come to life. When we had the full script, we decided, let's do the film."

Explaining their decision to replace Rajat Kapoor, who played the baddie in Bheja Fry with Kay Kay Menon, Mukul chooses his words carefully, "With Bheja Fry, Rajat had been fried enough. For the sequel, we needed new combustion. Kay Kay was amazing. He did an amazing job in the film."
Besides Kay Kay Menon, Bheja Fry 2 stars Amole Gupte and Vinay Pathak. The female leads have been played by Minissha Lamba, Aditi Govitrikar and Rukhsaar. With three formidable male actors in the film, is he apprehensive that the men might just overshadow the women? Mukul takes a moment to reflect on it, and smiles as he replies, "Rukhsaar has done a good job. Just like in this film, she has played Kay Kay's wife in several others they have worked together in. Everyone actually has done his/her job. All the ladies hold they own very well in front of the men. Bheja Fry 2 is all about excellent team work."
