New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday critisised Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati for her plan to divide Uttar Pradesh into four smaller states saying breaking the state would mean breaking the nation itself.
"A big state is symbol of the country's unity, breaking it would mean breaking the nation itself," said Yadav.
Condemning Chief Minister Mayawati, the SP chief said, "The Ganga, the Yamuna, Agra, Mathura, Ayodhya and Kashi are the identities of Uttar Pradesh".
Pointing at the condition of small states, Yadav said, "Small states like Jharkhand and Chattisgarh have become the haven of Naxalites. This will become a threat to the nation."
