B'desh bowlers on top as Dutch struggle
Chittagong: Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan's tactic to open with a spin-pace combination reaped rich benefits as the Netherlands' struggle eventually led to the fall of two quick wickets in the must-win Group B encounter for the co-hosts here on Monday.
Opener Wesley Barressi (10) was the first to depart after he was tied up by skipper Shakib Al Hasan, which frustrated him to throw his wicket away.
Mudassar Bukhari (6) fell soon after as he micued a shot off Abdur Razzak for a skier to be easily pouched by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim.
Earlier, the Dutch skipper Peter Borren won the toss and chose to bat first.
While for the Netherlands the World Cup is set to get over in the qualifying rounds itself, Bangladesh need to win here and in the next match against South Africa to harbor any hopes of entering the last-eight stage.
In that endeavour, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan elected to go in with Shahriar Nafees and Suhrawadi Shuvo in place of Raqibul Hasan and Naeem Islam.
The Dutch, on the other hand, brought in a specialist spinner in the form of off-spinner Adeel Raja who makes his 2011 World Cup debut.
