Canada dismiss Pakistan for 184
Colombo: A superb bowling display by Canada surprised Pakistan, who were dismissed for just 184 inside 50 overs after Shahid Afridi won the toss and elected to bat in a Group A encounter at the R Prmadasa Stadium here on Thursday.
Dismissals of Umar Akmal (48) and Misbah-ul-Haq (37) in quick succession, following their 70-run partnership, triggered a death-over collapse where Pakistan lost the last six wickets for just 24 runs.
Misbah and Umar steadied the Pakistan innings after Canada bowlers rocked them with four quick blows at the top, with Baidwan picking up two wickets, including the in-form Younis Khan.
Osinde got the better of opener Mohammad Hafeez and Cheema sent Kamaran Akmal back.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Pakistan got off to ther worst possible start when Mohammad Hafeez was adjudged LBW in the fourth over for 11 from 12 balls.
When Kamran and Shehzad were looking to consolidate, a poor shot selection by Shehzad cost him his wicket when he fell to Baidwan.
Baidwan then got his second when he dismissed dangerous Younis who was also out LBW, when even the UDRS didnt' come to his rescue after he chose to challenge the decision.
