New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is raiding 18 places across the country in connection with alleged irregularities in the Commonwealth Games projects. The raids are being conducted at 17 places in Delhi, two in Mumbai and one in Kolkata.
The investigating agency has also registered three new FIRs in connection with the Commonwealth Games scam. The FIRs have been registered in connection with the renovation of Shivaji and Talkatora stadiums for the Games and the appointment of consultants.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has already promised stern action against the guilty in the Commonwealth Games scam case. Singh had on January 31 directed Cabinet Secretary KM Chandrasekhar to provide a follow up report in a week on the findings of the VK Shunglu Committee that investigated Commonwealth Games scam cases.

Taking a serious view of the findings by the Shunglu Committee, the Prime Minister sent the report to the Cabinet Secretary for urgent examination and directed him to submit a report within a week.
Suresh Kalmadi was sacked from the post of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee's chairman following allegations that he was involved in various corrption cases related to the Games.
